Businesses across the state and beyond are stepping up to supply Australia’s biggest infrastructure project, the WestConnex.
Businesses across New South Wales are benefitting from contracts with WestConnex, Australia’s largest transport infrastructure project, according to NSW Minister for WestConnex Stuart Ayres.
The Minister visited InfraBuild (formerly LIBERTY OneSteel) customer DSI Underground, one of the businesses he says is reaping the benefits of the infrastructure project underway in Sydney. DSI Underground supplies support equipment for the WestConnex’s M4 and M5 tunnels.
Chief Executive of DSI Underground Derek Hird said his company has diversified from mining to provide tunnelling equipment for major road projects. The WestConnex project is one of the largest that DSI Underground has worked on.
“We’ve secured around $10 million in contracts to produce more than 150,000 rock bolts for the New M4 and New M5 projects, which are used to reinforce these massive tunnels,” Hird said.
InfraBuild supplies the high-quality steel bar DSI Underground require for processing into the tunnel rock bolts.
David Ditchfield, Market Manager at InfraBuild, said the company has worked closely with DSI Underground to provide a reliable supply of steel bar for the WestConnex project.
“InfraBuild is happy to play its part in providing high-quality Australian-made product towards this iconic project,” he said.
