InfraBuild announces Board appointment and leadership transition

25 February 2025

Jeffrey Kabel has been appointed board director at InfraBuild. Jeffrey brings a wealth of experience as a commercial leader with a strong background in trading and asset optimisation within the metals & mining and energy industries. Currently, as Liberty’s Group Chief Transformation Officer, he has successfully led the restructuring and turnaround efforts for Liberty Steel UK, focusing on high-value premium products.

Jeffrey’s impressive credentials include sitting on the UK Steel Council, chaired by the UK Business Secretary of State, and serving as Chairman of the International Steel Trade Association (ISTA). His collaborative work with the UK government has been instrumental in pushing the case for cost competitiveness of UK producers. Prior to joining Liberty, Jeffrey held the position of Executive Director at JP Morgan in London, where he led the firm’s global ferrous commodity efforts, and he also worked in a similar capacity at Koch Industries.

In addition, as of January 2025, Daksesh (Dak) Patel has stepped down from his position as a non-executive director on the InfraBuild board to dedicate more time to his family’s business interests which has undergone a generational change over the past year with the sad passing of both his parents. Dak stayed on to support the new CEO and the board over the past twelve months given his long history and support of InfraBuild. Dak’s family business now requires more of his time and attention and while he will no longer be a non-executive director of InfraBuild he will stay on as an Ambassador for the company.

Dak has always championed the GFG and InfraBuild vision and his commitment to the ongoing success and longevity of its operations. Perhaps the most significant, and under his leadership, was the introduction of new sustainable products, such as SENSE600®. He will continue to be an ambassador, a close friend and supporter of this key Australian employer and he remains committed to the success and growth of GFG, InfraBuild and the Australian steel sector.

While he transitions into this new phase of his career, Dak will continue to serve as an ambassador and trusted and experienced ‘go to’ person for our team, providing guidance and support as needed. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dak for his invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to InfraBuild and appreciate his ongoing support to InfraBuild board and team.
