2020 Kalbarri Skywalk

InfraBuild Steel Centre's work on the recently opened iconic project, the Kalbarri Skywalk, has resulted in future opportunities with a national parks project in WA. 

InfraBuild supplied weathering steel in late 2018 to Alltype Engineering, fabricator who worked on the Kalbarri Skywalk project.

Projects and Processing Sales Manager for Steel Centre in WA, Hakan Magill said the recent enquiry has resulted in potential work for InfraBuild, through Fortec Australia (www.fortecaustralia.com.au). On a smaller scale than the Skywalk, approx 18 tonnes of weathering steel will be required for the new project which is a 100 metre tree top bridge walk.

The project that started it all, the universally accessible Kalbarri Skywalk opened on 12 June. It consists of two cantilevered platforms overlooking the Murchison Gorge, along with a kiosk, shade shelters, toilets, parking, 22km of park roads, and upgrades to Meanarra Hill and Z Bend tourist sites.

"The Kalbarri Skywalk is projected to inject up to $73 million in additional expenditure over the next decade into the local economy and create jobs for tourism businesses, accommodation providers and associated service industries," said Environment Minister Stephen Dawson at the opening.
