It’s business as usual at InfraBuild. We continue to expand our offering into the renewable energy infrastructure market and we recently had the pleasure to demonstrate this to the Hon Roger Cook, Premier of Western Australia. We showed the Premier how we take our reinforcing bar and mesh to make pile cages that are part of the structures supporting electricity transmission. InfraBuild is proud to be partnering with the WA Government using our steel and reinforcing expertise to deliver these infrastructure elements.
Our processing and reinforcing capabilities are a feature of our operations across the company allowing us to deliver the steel needed for nation-building infrastructure and construction projects.
We’re a strong business, with a resilient supply chain and solid financial footing, ready to navigate any challenges in the local or global steel market.
We’ve already shown this strength over the past year, keeping our operations steady despite disruptions at the Whyalla blast furnace by tapping into existing supply chains. Just recently we experienced this in action with a delivery of more than 44,000 tonnes of billet. This billet, in addition to our own steel, will go towards the manufacture of our rod and wire range.
We’re well placed to continue delivering high-quality steel long products well into the future.
As Australia’s only steelmaker operating electric arc furnaces, we’re leading the way in sustainable steel. We’re also the largest integrated steel business, taking scrap metal through to manufacturing and distribution. Over the past three years, we’ve invested more than $330 million in low-emission steelmaking, including our SENSE 600® reinforcing bar with lower embodied carbon compared to our standard grade 500N steel.
Beyond investment, we’re also focused on making InfraBuild stronger—driving productivity, improving service, and enhancing our digital capabilities to create a better experience for our customers. While we will always be focussed on cost in the business, we’re also committed to making our business more efficient and future-ready.
We’re proud of the role we play in building Australia’s future and will continue to deliver the quality products and service you expect from us.
Finally, my thoughts are with everyone in South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales who have been impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. I know many have been dealing with storm damage and flooding and I hope you are staying safe and well.
All the best,
Francisco Irazusta
