A note from our CEO

Hello, I’m Francisco and at the start of October I joined InfraBuild as its new Chief Executive Officer.

I’m proud to have joined a company with heritage spanning more than 100 years in Australia, from steel manufacturing, recycling and distribution.

At InfraBuild we all strive to deliver the best service. As the new CEO I’m committed to ensuring we continue in our service excellence and meeting the expectations of our customers, suppliers and partners.

A key part of our service excellence is ensuring everything we do in our operations is safe. The simple reason is we want every employee returning home fit and well at the end of each workday.

This month has been National Safe Work Month and our theme this year has been “In Safe Hands”. Around two thirds of injuries at InfraBuild are hand-related and we wanted to raise awareness of hand safety.

To do this, we partnered with former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh to create a video promoting the importance of hand safety at work. It is important our team use the right type of hand protection to protect them from safety incidents, in the same way cricketers use gloves to protect their hands.

On the theme of safety, this month InfraBuild won a world safety culture and leadership award. This award recognises the work done since 2019 to reshape our safety culture through our program called “WRIB Safe” – We Are InfraBuild Safe.

Since its implementation there has been a 63 per cent improvement in the total recordable injury frequency rate and 30 per cent reduction in critical (life-threatening) incidents since 2021. We have also had 90 per cent of our workforce participate in our behavioural safety program called Safety Connect.

I was proud to represent InfraBuild at the awards and collect this award, recognising the important focus we place on safety at InfraBuild.
