At InfraBuild, we take our corporate social responsibilities seriously, and we are committed to supporting the communities we operate in.
Working within the framework of the InfraBuild values, our Community Connections program gives our InfraBuild Steel Centre, Midalia Steel, Steelforce and Tonkin Steel branches the means to engage with and support charitable organisations in their communities.
Between January and June this year, our branches had the opportunity to donate up to $5000 to an organisation or charity that supports and organises important social, community and sporting initiatives within their local areas and aligns with our values.
Some of the donations that have gone to local organisations include:
The Midalia Steel team in Wagin donated $2,000 to their local Community Resource Centre (CRC). The CRC connects the local community to a range of services, including technology support services for seniors, training and skill development classes, crafting classes for kids as well as educational events and seminars for teenagers. The donation will contribute to the cost of building repairs and maintenance so the CRC can continue to safely provide services to the Wagin community. (See image above).
In Toowoomba, the InfraBuild Steel Centre team donated $5,000 to the Toowoomba Netball Association. This money will help fund a pathway for Toowoomba players into the Greater Brisbane Netball League which enter the athletes into a higher competition level, and better develop their skills.
Our Steel Centre in Bendigo has donated $2,500 to Anglicare Victoria, an organisation that supports children, young people and families in need. The donation will specifically help those affected by the October 2022 floods in Rochester and support John Camilleri’s efforts to source and rebuild vehicles for their clients. These vehicles are used to provide reliable transportation for kinship carers and young people in rural areas to access education, training, and employment opportunities.
For more than two decades, Greg Cocks, who works at our InfraBuild Steel Centre in Newcastle, has been participating in Variety Motoring Events. Recently, the branch donated $2,500 to Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW & ACT, which aims to provide children who are ill, facing adversity, or have disabilities with opportunities to achieve their full potential in life.
Zoe Gould established the Woopi Boxing Club, a fantastic community organisation that offers free boxing classes to the young people of Woolgoolga (also known as Woopi). Through her hard work and dedication, Zoe is promoting sustainability and building a legacy for the future of the community. More than 20 girls have already started taking the classes, and two of them are training to become boxing coaches themselves. The InfraBuild Steel Centre branch located in Coffs Harbour contributed $2,000 to sponsor Zoe’s classes.
Our InfraBuild Steel Centre branch in Wollongong donated $2,500 to Kind Hearts Illawarra , a local charity that supports individuals in need by offering meals, hygiene supplies, and fresh food parcels. The donation will assist the charity in meeting their continuing costs and purchasing a new defibrillator for their vehicle.
Our InfraBuild Steel Centre branch in Mt Gambier held a morning tea with the Mount Gambier Breast Cancer Awareness Group along with some of our valued customers.
Our team presented the group with a $5000 cheque, which will support their ‘Pink Hand Bag’ program. This program provides locals going through breast cancer treatment with financial support including various vouchers for local businesses.
